The Den & Black Lounge is owened and operated by the University of Calgary Students’ Union. The Den & Black Lounge has been a student tradition for over 45 years – a regular hotspot for students with two floors of food, beverages, dance and fun, and is located just at the east end of the Food Court. Whether your preference is indoor dining, relaxing on the Black Lounge patio or private partying in the Red Room, this is your place to make it happen.
We have completely renovated The Den to provide a premiere experience and launched a refined food and beverage menu.

The Students’ Union hosts two venues for large conferences and concerts. For 15 years, Fast Forward Weekly has polled their readers to find out which are Calgary’s best concert venues. This year, MacEwan Hall located in the MacEwan Student Centre at the University of Calgary was voted number one in the category of “Best Concert Venue (over 500)” and third in the category of “Best All Ages Venue”.
These venues played host to amazing talent, such as Bon Iver, My Chemical Romance, and Tegan and Sara.
